There’s good news for Capita Travel and Events customers travelling on Virgin Trains’ west coast routes this Christmas. Travellers using the network during December can enjoy a first class upgrade (regardless of ticket type), if they travel again with the service during January.

“Capita Travel and Events and Virgin Trains have enjoyed a strategic alliance for many years,” says our director of commercial partnerships Raj Sachdave. “We’re always working with partners to improve business travel experiences, so we’re delighted to bring you this festive offer on their west coast network.”

To be eligible for a free upgrade, passengers must book between 1 and 22 December for travel on Virgin Trains’ west coast routes from 8-22 December, via Capita Travel and Events. If customers travel again on the network between 3-12 January 2018, the upgrade will be issued.

First-class comforts

Virgin Trains’ first-class service is geared towards those working on the move, with exclusive First Class lounges at selected stations and complimentary WiFi onboard. Travellers can enjoy delicious dishes from the onboard menu, and relax in seats with extended legroom.

The UK’s fastest train service has also recently launched BEAM, an in-journey entertainment system. Travellers in all classes can download the BEAM Android or iOS app to their mobile or tablet before they travel to access hours of blockbuster films such as Back to the Future and TV shows such as House of Cards.

It’s easy to see why Virgin Trains was voted the ‘Best Rail Operator’ at the Business Travel Awards 2017.

Top destinations

Virgin Trains’ west coast route includes key business hubs such as London Euston, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

From world-class conference venues to vibrant cultural experiences, Birmingham’s bustling streets have plenty for travellers to explore. Located next to the historic Birmingham Canal Old Main Line station, the International Conference Centre is the venue of choice for high-profile events. Its 10 halls and 10 meeting rooms have hosted well-known events including the G8 summit and party political conferences.

Known as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, Manchester is also seeing exciting advances across its business travel sector. Properties such as The Principal Manchester are giving the city’s historical past a modern twist. Dating back to 1890, the hotel combines Grade-II features with modern event facilities.

Not just a history and literary hotspot, the hilly landscape of Edinburgh is a top destination for business travellers. So much so, that the the Scottish capital was awarded the Global Cities of the Future title in the 2016/17 FDi Strategy category (associated with the Financial Times). For travellers wishing to soak up the city’s atmosphere, the five-star G &V Royal Mile Hotel occupies a prime location on the famous stretch.
