Marina views, panoramic sunsets and stylish surroundings are just some of the highlights that characterise a stay at Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa. Located in the city’s vibrant Ocean Village Marina, the hotel’s sleek glass exterior deliberately evokes the look and feel of a luxury yacht. “Everywhere you turn you can see boats and water,” Debbie Randle, the hotel’s director of sales says.
Southampton Harbour Hotel and Spa is the latest addition to the Harbour Hotel portfolio, a collection of luxury (and predominantly waterside) properties located across southern England. Since opening in October 2017, the hotel is already proving popular with visitors. All of the hotel’s 85 guest rooms offer views of the water. And, nautical touches – from the brass anchor in the lobby, to the ‘gone sailing’ door signs -playfully nod to its waterside setting.
The hotel’s location provides a memorable backdrop for meetings and events. Chic and airy, The Bow room is ideal for large-scale events, and can accommodate up to 250 delegates. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer stunning marina views, and the room’s private terrace provides a tranquil breakout space.
“Guests can step out onto the terrace and enjoy canapés when the sun is shining,” says Michelle Henry, the hotel’s national agency account manager. “It really makes people feel immersed in the destination.”
For more intimate meetings, the Needles caters for up to 140 delegates, theatre-style. Overlooking the bustling docks, the room can be configured for private dinners and boardroom events.
And, just a stone’s throw away from the city centre, and a 10-minute journey from Southampton Airport, Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa is conveniently located for delegates.
Dining with a twist
From sumptuous seafood to fruity cocktails, the hotel’s restaurants offer a range of delectable delights that make it one of our many great choices for food lovers.
With its emphasis on fine dining and relaxation, The Jetty restaurant is the perfect choice for business lunches and client entertaining. Its tasteful marine interior is full of characterful details, including an old framed diving suit. “The whole dining experience definitely creates a special impression,” Michelle says.
Run by Alex Aitken, of Michelin star success, The Jetty serves seasonal local produce alongside some quirkier dishes. Highlights include the playful dessert ‘Oops I dropped my ice cream’ – an inverted ice cream cone placed in edible ‘sand.’
Up on the rooftop, the vibrant HarBAR on 6th provides a great space to unwind. “After a busy day of meetings, clients can sit down and debrief over drinks, and enjoy wood-fired pizzas on the terrace,” Debbie says.
HarBAR’s waterside location lets guests soak up the marina’s cosmopolitan charm, while savouring light bites and nautical-themed cocktails. “The area’s buzz makes you feel like you’re in a bustling city,” adds Michelle, “HarBAR’s a place you want to be seen at.”
The hotel’s 85 bedrooms and suites are decorated in restful marine shades, and are full of indulgent touches, from The White Company toiletries to the Egyptian cotton sheets and duvets. Complimentary WiFi and stylish workspaces are also available.
If you’re lucky enough to have downtime at the hotel or looking to book an incentive trip, don’t miss a visit to the serene HarSPA. Guests can unwind with a range of treatments, from skin-soothing rasul mud experiences to massages with heated seashells.
The hotel’s gym has much to offer fitness lovers, with cardiovascular equipment and a dedicated fitness and spin studio. Afterwards, guests can choose from a selection of healthy smoothies from the hotel’s Juice Bar and Café.
Buzzing for business
The hotel’s elegant surroundings and modern vibe make it a dynamic addition to the Southampton scene. And, as Michelle notes, its bustling atmosphere adds to its appeal: “Because of our location by the marina, the hotel’s atmosphere is always changing – the evenings always have a real buzz.”
It’s clear that the staff have a shared love for the hotel: “there is nothing else like it in Southampton,” Debbie says, “I’m proud to shout about it and show guests its charm.”
